Short Land Rover Defender in Ukraine - price and configuration

The official premiere of the legendary, updated Land Rover Defender 90 took place in September 2019. The emergence of new items showed the pros and cons. On the downside, there is no frame, and the body has now become the supporting part. On the plus side, it is possible to note excellent cross-country ability, the same characteristics and stylish design. Not the least role was played by different types of body. The choice of the buyer was presented with 5 and 3-door Land Rover Defender.

The five-door version was the first to appear in Ukraine and almost immediately sold out between buyers. Now representatives of the company announced the appearance of a 3-door version of the Land Rover Defender 90. Until the last moment it was not known which configurations will arrive in Ukraine, as well as which units will be available to buyers. To understand how the 3-door version differs from the 5-door version, let's compare the cars in terms of size, design and equipment.

Apparently, the new 90th Land Rover Defender, although shorter, is higher, more free in terms of ground clearance and smaller in terms of wheelbase. All this is not the worst, but rather improved for cross-country ability and off-road driving. As a result of the change in size, the maneuverability of the 3-door Defender 90 crossover will be greater, and the turning radius is less (11.3 meters), in the 110th it is 12.84 m.

It turns out that each of the presented versions of Land Rover Defender 90 on the Ukrainian market is adapted to certain conditions. Someone wants a more maneuverable and lighter car, while others appreciate the carrying capacity. As for the design, the appearance, or rather the front part, is identical. Many say that these are two copies, exactly on the back of the driver's seat and the front passenger.

The main difference in the exterior design of the Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 is the number of doors and of course the roof. Depending on the wishes of the driver or passengers, the roof can be partially removed, completely, or the roof can be rigid non-removable. It is possible that over time there will be another version of the roof, which is now only demanded by individual buyers.

In terms of design, the buyer in Ukraine will be offered two main versions, the 90th and 90th First Edition. Each of the options is special in its own way, but a distinctive feature in the rims. The regular version will receive steel wheels for increased cross-country ability, but the First Edition equipment will stand out with more modern alloy wheels with a corporate design.

Defender 90 front optics cannot be confused with other cars, daytime running lights made in the shape of a crescent. A small radiator grille and a massive hood with a pair of air vents on the sides and a raised center section. At the rear, the crossover is not particularly surprising, a spare wheel on the tailgate, vertical LED feet and a trailed one in the standard set.

The interior of the Land Rover Defender 90 will largely depend on the original purpose and configuration. The choice of the buyer in Ukraine will offer 4 packages of accessories:

• Adventure (for extreme conditions);
• Country (for country trips and long distances);
• Explorer (harsh interior and exterior + improved protection);
• Urban (for getting around the city + improved comfort).

Depending on the configuration of the Land Rover Defender 90, the interior can be designed for 4, 5 or 6 seats, despite the 3 doors. If necessary, you can fold the second row of seats and the front passenger seat, thereby obtaining more free space for transporting cargo. If we talk about the off-road version, then only moisture-resistant and shock-resistant materials were used here.

All control units and moving parts of the passenger compartment underwent the same moisture resistance and shock resistance. In other words, even if water or dirt gets into the cabin of this configuration, you should not worry. The seats are easy to clean, as is the upholstery, and the control buttons on the center tunnel can withstand water that gets on them.

If everything is clear with the appearance and interior of Land Rover Defender 90, then what will be the technical characteristics for Ukraine. It will be possible to choose between a diesel and a gasoline engine, while the gasoline unit will be with a mild hybrid. A plug-in hybrid petrol unit (PHEV) will also be offered.

There will be two diesel units: D200 (volume 2.0 liters) and D250 (volume 3.0 liters), with a capacity of 200 hp. (430 Nm) and 249 hp. (570 Nm) respectively. There is only one petrol mild hybrid - P400 (volume 3.0 liters), with a capacity of 400 hp. and 550 Nm of torque. As for the drive, regardless of the configuration or modification, it will be complete, paired with an automatic transmission.

The price for the new Land Rover Defender 90 in Ukraine has already been announced, but the new product will officially appear in dealerships in March 2021. Now you can pre-order the car. The starting price in the Base configuration will cost from UAH 1,835,904 ($ 64,417), and the top-end version of the Auto X with a diesel engine starts at UAH 3,262,349.
