In September 2015, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the French carmaker Peugeot officially showed one of its most important novelties - a charged version of the 308 hatchback. However, it should be noted that for the first time the car was demonstrated long before its official debut - as part of the annual festival of speed in Goodwood, where the hot the hatch aroused great interest not only from ordinary people and spectators, but also from representatives of the global automotive elite.

The 308 GTI model was created with the active participation of the sports division of Peugeot and was intended to compete with the generally recognized class leaders in the person of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Opel Astra Opc, as well as charged modifications of the Ford Focus and Seat Leon.

Despite the fact that the car does not claim the laurels of the most powerful serial hatchback, it has a number of features and solutions that will undoubtedly appeal to potential buyers and will again win the hearts of millions of motorists around the world.

Peugeot 308 GTI exterior

Unlike its civilian counterpart, the charged modification of the 308th received a slightly modified front end, represented by a different pattern of the false radiator grille, as well as massive air intakes built into the front bumper of the car. Thanks to this, the "face" of the hatchback has become more expressive and aggressive, while not losing the style and charm of the classic Peugeot 308.

The profile of the car is distinguished by the presence of stylish five-spoke light-alloy wheels in the dimension R18-19 and a pronounced side body kit, reminiscent of the sporty character of the hatchback.


The rear of the car has acquired a stylish diffuser, on the sides of which there are two "pipes" of the exhaust system, as well as a brand nameplate GTi, which does not allow confusing the modification with the classic 308.

The car is offered in several colors, while, at the request of the buyer, the car body can be painted in two colors, which once again reminds of the unbridled and aggressive nature of the hot hatch.

The manufacturer has equipped the car with the following dimensions:

  • Length - 4253 mm;
  • Width - 1804 mm;
  • Height - 1446 mm;
  • Wheelbase equal to 2617 mm.


The car is poorly adapted to the conditions of "high-quality" Russian roads, as it has a small ground clearance of 100 mm, which will make the owner think several times before going on a long journey. The curb weight of the car does not exceed 1205 kg, which makes it one of the lightest in its class.

The interior of the charged modification is practically no different from that in the civilian version of the Peugeot 308 and can rightfully be considered one of the best in the class. The French managed to create not only a stylish, but also an ergonomic and extremely spacious interior. There is enough free space even for tall passengers, and this applies not only to the space in the legs, but also above the heads of passengers.

In front of the driver is the original multifunctional steering wheel, sporty truncated at the bottom, and right in front of the eyes there is a stylish dashboard with speedometer and tachometer dials spaced on the sides. This solution looks stylish and unusual, however, the French have always been famous for their extravagance, sense of style and originality.

Salon "hot" Peugeot 308 is able to boast of excellent finishing materials and almost flawless assembly - the car has become much more presentable and richer than its predecessor.

In contrast to the civilian version, the GTI version has sports seats upholstered in a combination of Alcantara and high-quality leather, as well as stylish red stitching and embroidered GTI lettering on the headrests. The rear seats can easily accommodate three adult passengers, and even the third passenger will not be deprived of free space.

The boot volume is 420 liters when stowed. If necessary, it can be increased by folding the rear seats, as a result of which the volume of usable space can be increased to an impressive 1228 liters, which, together with a large loading opening, makes the machine very versatile for transporting bulky cargo.

Specifications Peugeot 308 GTI 2016

The standard modification of the 308 on the Russian market is represented by two power units - these are 1.6-liter engines with a capacity of 115 and 150 hp.

  • The first engine is equipped with an exclusively mechanical transmission and is capable of developing a maximum of 193 km / h. Combined fuel consumption ranges from 6.5-6.7 l / 100 km, and acceleration from 0 to 100 is 10.9 seconds.
  • The second motor is equipped with a modern 6-band "automatic", which allows the car to accelerate to 211 km / h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 takes 2.4 seconds. less time than the base engine, while fuel consumption also does not exceed 6.7 l / 100 km on the combined cycle.


The charged version of the Peugeot 308 GTI can be equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine, presented in two boosts:

  • The first is a 250-horsepower engine, aggregated by a 6-speed mechanics and accelerating to the first hundred in just 6.2 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.
  • The second is a 270-horsepower engine, also equipped with a 6-level mechanics and a limited slip differential. Such an engine has more frisky dynamics and allows you to exchange the first hundred for 0.2 seconds. faster (in 6 sec.). The maximum speed, similar to the 250-strong version, is limited at around 250 km / h.

The fuel consumption of both the first and second power units is about 6.5 liters per 100 km, which makes the car not only dynamic, but also extremely economical.


The design of the "charged" version is almost identical to the standard version. It is based on the modular EMP2 platform, represented by an independent McPherson suspension at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. The main differences lie in the installation of stiffer shock absorbers and springs, as well as "sharper" steering wheel and chassis settings, which allows the car to literally "lick" the corners.

Despite the presence of a sporty tuned suspension and shock absorbers, the hatchback remains comfortable enough even when driving on roads that are far from ideal.

Peugeot 308 GTI safety

Peugeot 308 GTI, despite its sporty orientation, is equipped with all the necessary passive and active safety systems. Among them:

  • brake force distribution and stabilization systems;
  • anti-lock braking system;
  • three pairs of airbags;
  • parking assistance systems;
  • lane tracking functions;
  • Cruise control;
  • sensors monitoring "blind" zones and the physical condition of the driver and much more.


Among other things, the hot hatch is equipped with ventilated disc brakes with a diameter of 33 cm at the front and 26.8 cm - at the rear, and the more powerful 270-horsepower version is equipped with 38-centimeter carbon-ceramic brake discs, providing even more efficient and faster deceleration.

The car is also equipped with three-point seat belts and ISOFIX child seat anchorages, which means the hot hatch is quite capable of playing the role of a family car that can “shoot” on the highway if necessary.

2016 Peugeot 308 GTI

Official sales of the civilian version of the Peugeot 308 in Russia started in the second half of 2014, and the GTI version went on sale a year later at a minimum cost of 37.2 thousand euros (2.75 million rubles).

A more advanced version will cost customers 39 thousand euros (2.88 million rubles). Separately, we note that the minimum cost of the civilian version of the hatchback starts at 16.5 thousand dollars (1.059 million rubles).

The basic modification of the Peugeot 308 is presented in three trim levels (Access, Active, Allure), while already in the minimum equipment the car offers:

  • Halogen front and rear optics;
  • LED running lights;
  • Anti-lock braking system, as well as ESP and ASR systems;
  • Central locking and immobilizer;
  • Front power windows;
  • Power side mirrors;

  • Audio system with 6 speakers and support for AUX-In.


The charged modification 308 GTI has richer equipment:

Peugeot 308 GTI is a stylish, bright and very charismatic car that suits both male and female half of humanity equally well.

Despite its “wild” temperament, the hatchback can easily play the role of a family car, providing a high level of safety for the driver and passengers, as well as allowing, if necessary, to carry oversized cargo, which is facilitated by a considerable volume of the luggage compartment.

In comparison with its predecessor, the car has become not only more spacious and ergonomic, but also received an order of magnitude better finishing materials, which allows the car to easily compete with the best representatives in the class.
