In early September 2016, Skoda unveiled its new mid-size crossover Kodiaq, named after the species of brown bears that live on Kodiak Island.

And already in March 2017, during an automobile exhibition in Geneva, the Czechs presented a special "sporting" modification of the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline crossoverwhich has received a number of visual improvements that make the car more stylish, dynamic and attractive.

True, it's worth mentioning right away that the novelty has received exclusively visual changes, while the technical part remains similar to the standard Kodiaq.

Those who want to get a truly "charged" modification should turn their attention to the Skoda Kodiaq RS version, the debut of which should take place in the near future.

Skoda Kodiaq Sportline exterior

The appearance of the Skoda Kodiaq is made in the style of the VisionS concept model, demonstrated at the beginning of 2016. Compared to the regular version, the Sportline version received body-colored bumpers and sills, as well as a false radiator grille, roof rails and exterior mirrors painted black.

"Muzzle" of the car, as before, it flaunts a spectacular head optics and a relief hood, a large air intake and an impressive front bumper.

Crossover profile looks stylish and dynamic, which is facilitated by the sloping roofline, massive wheel arches and elegant embossing on the sidewalls.

One of the features of the novelty is the lack of plastic protection, as well as the ability to install exclusive R19 and R20 rims.

But it is unlikely that there are many who want to conquer the impenetrable "jungle" on the Sportline version, especially when you consider that the company's lineup has a special off-road version of the Skoda Kodiaq Scout.

The architecture of the front panel in the Sportline version is exactly the same as in the regular Skoda Kodiak, the only exception is the new multifunction steering wheel, which is cut in a sporty way from the bottom.

Traditionally for Skoda models, the interior of the crossover pleases with high build quality and materials presented by natural and eco-leather, Alcantara, soft plastics and aluminum.

In the central part of the dashboard, an advanced multimedia system Columbus Navigation System can be installed, represented by a 9.2 "touchscreen monitor, on which, in addition to navigation and images from an all-round view camera, information about overloads, turbine operation data and engine oil temperature can be displayed.

Just below the multimedia center, there is a laconic and easy-to-use cabin climate control unit, represented by three multifunctional knobs.

Instead of standard seats, the Sportline modification received sports bucket first row chairsequipped with integrated headrests and improved lateral support.

HDespite its sporty orientation, the seats offer all the necessary benefits of civilization: a wide range of adjustments (electric drive) and a multilevel heating system.

Second row of seats offers a large amount of free space in all directions, so even three adults can sit here without any problems, but the optional third row is suitable only for children - there is not enough space both in height and in width.

In a seven-seater configuration, the trunk volume is only 270 liters, and in the five-seater version, the user can already count on 720 liters. When the second and third rows of seats are folded, the luggage compartment volume increases to an impressive 2,065 liters, which turns the crossover into a small van, allowing even bulky cargo to be transported.

Separately, we will highlight the presence of metal pads on the pedals and sills, which have become another hallmark of the Sportline modification.

The line of power units has not undergone any changes and is represented by the same 4-cylinder engines offered for the standard version of the Skoda Kodiaq:

1. The initial is a 1.4-liter TSI series engine, equipped with an aluminum cylinder block, a turbine, a 16-valve timing belt and an advanced direct fuel injection system. Such an engine develops 150 hp. and 250 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed "robot" with a dual clutch system are available as a gearbox.

   Acceleration from 0 to 100 requires 9.4 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 198 km / h. Combined fuel consumption is 7.1 liters for every 100 km of distance traveled.

2. The top-end is a 2-liter gasoline engine of the TSI series, which has received a turbocharger and a Common Rail system at its disposal. The output of this engine is 180 "horses" and 320 Nm of peak torque. This engine is equipped with a modern 7-speed "automatic" with DSG, which allows to "shoot" up to a hundred in 7.8 seconds, as well as develop a maximum speed of 206 km / h. Despite the high power, the average fuel consumption increased slightly - up to 7.3 liters.
3. 2-liter TDI diesel engine generating 150 or 190 hp. and 340 or 400 Nm of peak torque. In the first version, the engine is aggregated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed "robot", and in the second - only automatic transmission.

With a diesel engine, the crossover accelerates to a hundred in 8.6 (10) seconds, develops a maximum of 210 km / h, and also consumes about 5-5.6 liters per 100 km in a mixed mode of travel.

In all versions, the crossover is equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive system, where the rear axle is connected via a multi-plate clutch.

At the heart of the novelty is the MQB trolley, which is well known from other models of the Volkswagen Group. The car flaunts independent suspensions of both axles (in the front it is represented by MacPherson struts, in the rear - with a 4-lever), rack and pinion steering with electric power assistance and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated in front).

Special attention should be paid to the Driving Mode Selection system, which allows you to select one of several operating modes of the engine, chassis and transmission, depending on the driving conditions.
