The first teaser display of the new Kia Telluride took place at the 2018 New York Beauty Show. The new SUV was officially unveiled at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. When the first photos of this model surfaced, there were many assumptions. Some said that this was a new generation of Kia Mohave, while others suggested a new generation of Kia Sorento in a long body.

Almost immediately after the show, the new Kia Telluride SUV entered dealerships in South Korea and North America. Under the hood of the novelty is a V6 petrol engine of the DOHC family with a volume of 3.8 liters. An 8-speed automatic transmission works in tandem with the engine. The drive system of the new SUV is complete, with a connected rear axle. It turns out that according to the standard of the leading one is the front axle. The most interesting point is that the car is designed for 8 seats.

After the official demonstration of the new Kia Telluride SUV and, in fact, the largest SUV of the Korean manufacturer, it was hard to believe that the new product was made in such a design. The usual sharp and elongated design of the parts has been completely replaced by a rough and chopped one. In other words, Kia's designers have moved away from the usual direction.

The front of the new Kia Telluride has acquired a massive radiator grille with two chrome lines at the top and bottom, as well as a mesh insert and a company emblem. The front bumper turned out to be quite modern, the central part was taken away under two additional radiator grilles, with a pair of foglights and sensors. The side section was decorated with a pair of air intakes with chrome strips.

No less attention is attracted by the front small optics. The feeling that the designers did not complete it, thereby spoiling the overall look of the SUV. The headlights are based on LED technology. The central part was highlighted with two lenses, and LED running lights were added along the contour. To be honest, for a massive SUV, the optics seem quite shallow. The front end of the new Kia Telluride is accentuated by an equally massive hood, the central part has been raised above the main one, adding a couple of cutouts.

From the side, the new Kia Telluride looks solid, massive body, strict lines and a minimum of chrome parts. Large windows indicate the presence of a third row, and plastic protection on the lower part, large discs and good ground clearance - about the possibility of the car driving off-road. Still, there are modern details, side mirrors. Kia Telluride designers placed them on the door panel, not in the corner of the front windows.

The standard set of mirrors includes LED turn signal repeater, automatic folding, electric adjustment and heating. Optionally, you can add memory for two modes of settings. By color, the new Kia Telluride is available in the following shades:

• maroon.

The manufacturer does not offer optional shades of color Kia Telluride. The basis for the SUV was 18 ″ alloy wheels, optionally you can install 19 ″ wheels, while the choice is offered in several shades.

No less interesting is the new Kia Telluride SUV looks from the back. The first thing that catches your eye is the massive tailgate and L-shaped feet. This has never been shown by the designers for sure. The feet were, in fact, placed vertically, and the LED base and highlighted sectors added an unusual look. As for the boot lid, it has been embellished with a few curves, a large model lettering and a small sports spoiler at the top.

According to the manufacturer, starting with the basic configuration of the Kia Telluride, the SUV will receive an electric boot lid, a rear-view camera and a system for lowering the ground clearance. An unusual bumper accentuates the rear of the new SUV. A small part was painted in body color, but the main one was made of black plastic, like the edging around the perimeter of the car. The central part was occupied by a massive silver diffuser, and a pair of oblong fog lights were added on the sides.

Finally, consider the roof of the new Kia Telluride 2020. Due to the fact that the SUV is designed for 6-8 seats, the roof is not quite standard. In the basic configuration, the maximum you can find is an electric sunroof. More expensive options will get a hatch for the first row of seats and a large sliding panorama for the 2nd and 3rd row of seats.

In addition, side rails are installed on the roof for attaching an additional rack. The rear part of the roof was supplemented with stiffeners, as well as a small antenna in the form of a shark fin. The appearance of the Kia Telluride SUV turned out to be a bit rude, modern and stylish. As for me, the minus is in the front optics, although it is original, but it would be nice to modify it, making it larger and more expressive. Otherwise, the design is practical and will live for more than one year, in comparison with other SUV competitors.

The interior of the new 2019 Kia Telluride SUV

In contrast to the not quite familiar and standard appearance, the interior of the new Kia Telluride turned out to be modern and stylish. There is nothing superfluous, a minimum of control systems and maximum comfort. This SUV can be called a family car. The front panel looks simple enough, but it has everything you need. The central part is occupied by 8 ″ (for top versions 10.25 ″) touchscreen display of the multimedia system, which looks more like a tablet in a special case.

The operating systems Apple CarPlay and Android Auto served as the basis for multimedia at the same time. The list also includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, 4G LTE mobile communications and voice control. There are three separate air ducts located just below the display. Going down the center console, they placed the navigation and audio system control panel, the Start / Stop engine button and the dual-zone climate control panel.

With a minimum functional set, but maximum comfort, the central tunnel of Kia Telluride is made. For convenience, at the very beginning, they placed buttons for adjusting the heating and airflow of the front seats; in the center behind a hidden panel, they hid a wireless charging panel, a USB port and a 12V outlet.

Also on the central tunnel of the SUV there was an automatic transmission lever, a pair of cup holders, a travel mode selector, quick access to a rear-view camera and a circular view system, an electromechanical handbrake and a couple of additional security systems. Finally, this whole set is completed by a roomy armrest with the ability to adjust. A huge disadvantage in the Kia Telluride cabin, which many motorists have already noted, is the black glossy lining of the central tunnel. It will be as easy as shelling pears to stain it, fingerprints and dust are constantly visible on it, for minor scratches you just need to be silent. Therefore, you will have to take care of the tunnel partly and carefully.

Now about the interior of the Kia Telluride 2020 SUV. As already mentioned, it is designed for maximum boarding of 8 passengers. At the same time, a complete set for 6 seats was presented in the USA, where the second row of seats turned out to be separate with two separate seats, and not a "sofa". The front seats received comfortable lateral support, a high backrest and the ability to adjust in 8 directions. As standard, the function of the 1st row seats includes heating and ventilation.For a separate surcharge, the manufacturer promised to install a massage function, but the price has not yet been disclosed. The second row of Kia Telluride seats is designed as standard for seating 3 passengers, with a 60/40 folding ratio, although 40/20/40 could be realized. From the functionality of the "sofa", it is possible to note only the possibility of adjusting the seats for departure, as well as adjusting the backrest tilt. If equipped with two separate seats, they will be identical to the first row. For a separate surcharge, you can install separate armrests with cup holders, as well as touch screens on the backrests of the first row of seats.

Finally, the third row of Kia Telluride seats remained, regardless of the configuration, it is designed for three seats. There is enough free space for children or three average passengers, even for long distances there will be no fatigue. There is very little functionality or comfort for the third row, a pair of USB ports and cup holders.

Kia Telluride used high-quality fabric or leather as upholstery. By color, the SUV's interior is available in:

Finally, consider the driver's seat. Many car enthusiasts expected the SUV's dashboard to be completely digital, but even for the top-end configuration, this option is not available. Typically, the Kia Telluride tidy will be analog-digital. The central part was taken under a color 3.5 ″ (7 ″ for the top version) color display of the on-board computer, and a pointer tachometer and a speedometer were added to the sides.

The steering wheel of the Kia Telluride is upholstered in leather as standard and is designed for 4 spokes. The two upper spokes were taken away under the function buttons, the lower ones received a black glossy overlay, which does not go well with daily use. You can adjust the steering wheel in height and depth, in addition, there are two memory modes for different settings. The conclusion about the interior of the new Kia Telluride - there is nothing superfluous, a minimum of those parts for which you will have to overpay. With all this, comfort is at a height, a truly family SUV with the ability to accommodate 8 passengers (including the driver) and travel long distances.

The Telluride SUV's suspension is taken from the Hyundai Palisade, completely independent. MacPherson struts are installed in front, multi-link suspension in the back.
