Late at night on November 29, 2016, as part of the Go Further event specially organized in Cologne, Germany, Ford officially presented the 7th generation of one of its most popular models, the Fiesta. At the same time, it is curious that the salon was shown first and the technical characteristics of the novelty were announced, but the demonstration of the external appearance of the car took place a little later, as part of the annual Geneva Motor Show.
In comparison with its predecessor, the car has added a little in size, got a more adult and presentable appearance, as well as a radically redesigned interior and a lot of technological "gadgets" that allow the car to claim the title of one of the most technologically advanced in the class.
Recall that the first generation of Ford Fiesta was released back in 1976, and in just more than 40 years of history, over 17.5 million copies were produced. Moreover, in the past few years, the model has confidently held the leadership of the best-selling compact car in Europe and, it is worth noting that the new generation of Fiesta has everything it needs to continue this unspoken tradition.

The proportions and overall styling of the new Ford Fiesta are reminiscent of the previous version, however, due to the calmer and rounded body shapes, the car is perceived as more solid and coherent.
The front part of the car has got new head optics, made in the style of the latest generation Ford Focus, as well as a stylish six-sided false radiator grille, reminiscent of that of Aston Martin models.
The front bumper has also undergone an update, into which a large trapezoidal air intake and neat fog lamps are effectively inscribed.
The profile of the car looks modern and dynamic, which is facilitated by the sloping bonnet, the rising window line, the sloping roofline and striking embossing on the sidewalls. Depending on the version, the hatchback can be supported by steel or light-alloy wheels R 15-18.
The rear of the car has got horizontal marker lights and a new rear bumper. In addition, in the upper part of the tailgate, as before, there is a small spoiler designed to improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car.
The novelty has the following dimensions:

- Height - 1495 mm;
- Wheel base in 2493 mm.
The height of the ground clearance is 167 mm, which is sufficient not only for the conditions of the urban "jungle", but also for periodic forays beyond their limits. Traditionally for this model, the manufacturer offers a wide range of body colors, as well as a special ST-Line package, which makes the car's appearance more aggressive and cocky.
It is also known that in the near future a special version of the Ford Fiesta Active will be presented, for which the manufacturer has reserved a special plastic body kit, roof rails and more impressive ground clearance.
Interior of the new Ford Fiesta
The interior design of the 7th generation of the Fiesta pleases not only with a completely updated and more respectable architecture of the front dashboard, but also not in class with high-quality finishing materials. The driver's workplace received an updated multifunctional steering wheel and a perfectly tailored dashboard, but the central panel attracts most attention, in the upper part of which there is a large display of the information and multimedia system, just below the air duct unit, and even lower - a laconic and intuitive cabin climate control unit.
As conceived by the designers, the interior is dominated by various shades of black and gray, and if the ST-Line package is installed, the interior is diluted with color inserts to match the color of the car body.
Representatives of the company proudly report that the front seats have become more comfortable and received a wider range of adjustments, which allows a person of any size and height to get as comfortable as possible.
The rear seats can easily accommodate three adult riders, which was made possible by the increased free space in all directions.
Unfortunately, the exact volume of the trunk of the novelty is still unknown, but it is assumed that it will be larger than that of its predecessor (recall, in the 6th generation of the Fiesta, it is equal to 276 liters in the stowed position and 980 liters with the second row seats lowered).
As in the case of exterior design, buyers will be offered the possibility of extensive personalization of the interior, which will especially appeal to young people and the fair sex.

At the heart of the seventh generation Fiesta is the "trolley" of its predecessor, which has undergone a number of significant improvements. In particular, the company's engineers changed the suspension settings, increased the track and increased the torsional rigidity of the body by 15%, which had a positive effect not only on the car's behavior on the road, but also on the level of safety. The front axle is an independent MacPherson-style suspension, while the rear has a semi-independent architecture with a transverse torsion beam. At the same time, both the front and rear suspension received steel springs and transverse shock absorbers.
The line of power units for the new Ford Fiesta is represented by a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, already equipped with the Start-Stop system in the base:
- Gasoline engines are represented by 70 and 85-horsepower naturally aspirated three-cylinder 1.1-liter, as well as a turbocharged 1-liter EcoBoost engine with direct injection, generating, depending on the modification, 100, 125 or 140 "horses".
The exact characteristics of each of the gasoline engines are not yet available, but it is already known that an 85-horsepower aspirated engine is capable of developing a maximum 171 km / h, consuming an average of about 5.9 l / 100 km. At the same time, it will take a little less than 13 seconds to overclock from 0 to 100. But the characteristics of the top 140-horsepower petrol engine are more impressive: acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 10 seconds, top speed - over 192 km / h and average consumption within 6-6.2 l / 100 km. - Diesel versions are represented by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder equipped with Common-Rail technology and reproducing 85 or 120 "stallions". The speed characteristics of the diesel versions are unknown, but the average fuel consumption will fluctuate between 3.5-4 liters, which makes them one of the most economical in their price category.
Depending on the type of engine and its power, the car can be equipped with a 5 or 6-band manual transmission or a 6-level "automatic", and the latter is additionally equipped with paddle shifters.
A rack and pinion mechanism with an electric booster is responsible for controlling the machine, and ventilated front disc brakes, as well as rear ones, drum or disc, are responsible for braking it.
The increased level of acoustic comfort deserves special attention - according to the manufacturer, when driving at a speed of 100 km / h, the cabin became 7% quieter. In addition, as an option, the car can be equipped with electronic Torque Vectoring Control, designed to provide faster cornering.

Despite the fact that in terms of safety the predecessor could give odds to any direct competitor, the new Ford Fiesta received a number of new "chips" that made the car even safer. In total, the buyer can count on the following equipment and security systems:

In Europe, the price of the new Ford Fiesta will start at 14 thousand euros (about 989 thousand rubles), but the exact cost of the car in Russia is not yet known. At the same time, we note that the sixth generation of the model is currently being sold in the Russian Federation at a price of 752 thousand rubles.

The main trump cards of the novelty, in comparison with its predecessor and most competitors, are: presentable appearance, solid, ergonomic and high-quality interior, an impressive list of equipment and a wide range of engines that can satisfy the needs of almost any car owner.
Subjectively, the new Fiesta deserves the title of the most technologically advanced, stylish and safe car in its price segment.
