The appearance of the new generation BMW X6 in the back of the G06 was not spontaneous, since the manufacturer had previously officially shown individual parts of the crossover more than once, and finally revealed the overall design. Now the novelty was officially shown at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. In comparison with the previous generation, the new product has become more massive, with very noticeable changes.

The official premiere of the new third-generation BMW X6 G06 took place on June 3, 2019, as part of the company's special exhibition. Initially, it was said that they wanted to start production of the novelty in November 2019, but now it is reliably known that assembly and production were set up at a US plant in the city of Spartanburg.

Accordingly, the start of sales in many countries began earlier than the planned date, Russia was no exception, as evidenced by the list of available complete sets on the official website. By design, the new generation of BMW X6 remains recognizable due to the slope of the rear of the roof, but there are many things that really distinguish the third generation from the second. To all this, as many experts say, the new BMW X6 is somewhat reminiscent of the Lamborghini Urus.

Exterior of the new crossover

As already mentioned, the appearance of the new, third generation BMW X6 remained in the style of the line of this model, but the body itself has become more massive, more modern, with modified individual elements. At the front, the new BMW X6 G06 stands out with large "nostrils" of the radiator grille with vertical ribs. Compared to the second generation, the grille has become larger in width and height. The ribs (inserts) themselves now protrude forward, and the color of the edging largely depends on the configuration and the wishes of the buyer.

In the standard version of the BMW X6, the bezel of the grille is chrome-plated, as are the ribs themselves. For a separate surcharge, you can paint the ribs and edging in the body color, in the color chosen by the buyer, or make it completely matte. The engineers did not stop there and went for broke to give special charm to the new BMW X6 G06, they added LED elements between the ribs. At night it looks very bewitching and unique. The technology is not new and was previously used on the latest generation of BMW X5, but only as an option and then it was not widely advertised. For the new BMW X6, this feature will cost an additional 45,000 rubles.

Depending on the driver's wishes, the grille illumination can be changed. In the standard version, it is white, but other variations in shades are not excluded. There can also be a floating version or alternate shade change.

The front end of the new BMW X6 continues to be complemented by modern optics based on LED technology and laser lighting. The rhomboid lenses of the daytime running lights and the bright blue interior of the lenses add a special chic to the optics. The technology was called BMW Laser Light, it is the X-shaped blue insides that sharpen the attention and add special severity to the crossover. In addition to all this, such optics can illuminate the space 500 meters ahead, and in case of detection of oncoming traffic, darken certain sectors.

Together with the massive radiator grille of the new BMW X6, the front bumper has been modified. Particularly well now stand out the side inserts of the air ducts, with C-shaped fangs on top and large elements of LED foglights. The central part of the bumper was decorated with an open, additional radiator grill.

Unlike the main grille, the lower grille of the BMW X6 fully fulfills its purpose and is devoid of LED backlighting. There are also radars, sensors and all kinds of sensors for active security systems. The final detail on the front of the new BMW X6 G06 is the bonnet. Unlike the second generation, it turned out to be massive, with pronounced lines and a raised central part.

The side part of the BMW X6 2020 looks no less mesmerizing now. Unlike the second generation, many body parts have a characteristic slant back. An example of this is the bevel of doors, individual body elements and, for example, the fuel filler flap of the gas tank. Previously, all hatches were made rectangular or square, in the new BMW X6 it was tilted back, thereby emphasizing the novelty.

Depending on the configuration of the third generation BMW X6, the side part will differ in individual elements. In normal trim levels, the front fenders are devoid of gills, as well as additional lines. The maximum flattened wheel arches, strict lines from the front fender to the rear stops, as well as a small curved line along the bottom of the doors. As for the charged equipment of the M50i, it received a "gill" on the front fenders and rear bumper. Also along the perimeter of the body you can find characteristic nameplates belonging to the M-series of BMW cars.

Another nuance is that the designers of the BMW X6 did not follow the current trend regarding side mirrors. They were placed in a classic style, in the corner of the front windows, and not on the door panel, like many cars. The functional set is maximum: heating, electric adjustment, memory for several modes, automatic folding and LED turn signal repeaters. By color, the BMW X6 G06 crossover can be painted in:

All shades, with the exception of pure white, come with a metallic tint. To give the new BMW X6 even more spite and sportiness, the designers have made the roof slope smooth by removing the steps and leveling it with the stern. Alloy wheels with a new design finally emphasize the side part of the BMW X6. The standard is 19 ″, as an option for an additional fee, you can install 20 ″, 21 ″ or 22 ″. On average, there are 4 design options for each size.

If we compare the front, side and rear of the new BMW X6, then it was the rear that received the most revision. The trunk lid has merged into one plane with the roof, thanks to this, a large rear window is installed. The upper part was decorated with a sports spoiler, another spoiler is installed at the stern, the end of the trunk. This allowed not only to improve aerodynamic characteristics, but also to give a special sporty design, as well as add a little anger.

Even more changes were made to the rear feet of the BMW X6. The designers stretched them across the entire width of the crossover. Starting from the basic equipment, they are LED, as an option, you can install dynamic direction indicators. On the one hand, such feet significantly distinguish the second generation from the third, but by design they do not really fit into the general "evil" look. Many motorists have already noted that it would be better to copy the feet of the second generation BMW X6 in a modern way, while leaving a large, open shape.

The front part of the BMW X6 trunk lid was decorated with a branded emblem and chrome nameplates. If we compare the usual configurations and the charged M-series, then there are still differences. For example, the side part of the bumper will acquire "gills", similar to those in the front. The rear bumper of the BMW X6 will also receive a diffuser with pronounced ribs and a glossy insert at the bottom of the bumper.

The designers did not save on the crossover exhaust system by adding two tips to the ends of the twin exhaust. So that there was no doubt that they were real, and not a fake, they emphasized the contour with chrome edging. Finally, consider the roof of the new BMW X6 2020. According to available information, the manufacturer has installed a panoramic roof with a sliding front part.It is also supposed to install a panoramic sunroof with an electric drive for basic models.

For a separate surcharge, you can install side rails, both for the trunk, and simply to give a unique look to the car. The rear part of the roof is finished as standard with a shark fin antenna. In addition to the listed functions and design elements, the manufacturer offers many additional "chips" as an option on the BMW X6 G06. For example, lighting the road surface when the driver approaches the car or setting up a greeting when opening the crossover. The very design of the new BMW X6 G06 has become more massive and modern, which of course was lacking in the second generation.

The interior of the new crossover

Following the appearance of the BMW X6, the interior of the crossover has changed quite well. But, there are also disadvantages, the designers did not make it unique. It was simply copied from existing models, since the interior of the latest generations of BMW cars began to be made as a carbon copy, with only minor modifications to individual elements.

The interior design of the new BMW X6 is a modern classic of the company. The very top of the front panel is reserved for the large 12.3 ″ touchscreen display of the multimedia system. If it were not for the bezel, then a 12.3 ″ color display of the digital instrument panel would be added under one glass. In addition to the standard options for tidy settings, the driver of the BMW X6 can independently choose the location of the instruments, change the background, up to the image from external cameras. As for multimedia, it was based on the proprietary OS 7.0 system, with a huge list of comfort and control functions.

Many well-known companies began to transfer control in the cabin of new cars to touch displays, thereby minimizing the number of physical buttons. Despite this trend of "fashion", the designers of the BMW X6 2020 left the old climate control panel and audio system, with buttons and a pair of small color displays.

The central tunnel of the new BMW X6 did not differ much from other models of the brand. At the very beginning, a pair of cup holders with a heating and cooling function, as well as a 12V cigarette lighter, were placed behind the plug. Below the tunnel is a standard set, a washer for controlling the crossover functions, buttons for controlling the air suspension and, of course, the choice of suspension modes, plus the Start / Stop button for the engine.

Interestingly, the designers of the BMW X6 made an unusual gear lever. The handle itself is made of rock crystal, and inside there is an illuminated model lettering. The central armrest of the BMW X6 is no less functional. In addition to the spacious compartment, all kinds of charging options (wireless charging, USB ports, 12V) are hidden here. Optionally, the manufacturer offers to add the function of heating one section or completely cool the capacity of the armrest. On the back, the armrest of the BMW X6 reminds many of the same X5 or X7, the climate control panel, additional chargers for the second row of seats and quick access to the audio system.

Having dealt with the interior stuffing of the new BMW X6, which reminds many of the models already presented, and for what they actually scold the company's designers, consider the interior as a whole. The front seats, increased lateral support and all sorts of available set of functions received a slight design revision. Starting with the basic configuration of the crossover, one can note heating and ventilation, an electric adjustment drive and a memory for three settings modes. Following the first row, the second row of BMW X6 seats was revised. Previously, there were many complaints that there was not enough space and passengers in the second row often banged their heads against the ceiling. On the one hand, the designers have finalized this moment by adding a special recess in the ceiling, so a passenger with a height of 170-180 cm will feel quite free. If we take a tall passenger, 190 cm tall or more than 200 cm, then the problem remains unsolved. A huge disadvantage is that the second-row seats of the BMW X6 cannot be adjusted for seating height, although with the 40/20/40 proportion, which the seats were equipped with, it was quite possible to realize this function.

There is no point in talking about the variety of comfort functions or additional details. The most up-to-date options are available for passengers and the driver of the BMW X6. Optionally, you can add multimedia touch displays for the second row of seats or the automatic folding of the front passenger seat.

The interior trim was not left aside either. Given the status of the BMW X6, it becomes clear that there are no cheap materials or poor quality here, only TOP. I would like to note right away that both standard and individual interior trim options are available, although high-quality Vernasca leather was used in both options. The BMW X6 standard offers colors:

If we talk about individual coloring options, then the first is a snow-white interior made of Merino leather (surcharge of 349,000 rubles), as well as black with wavy stitching. As for the front panel of the BMW X6, only in the white design it will be 50% white, and 50% black, in all other design options only black, with leather upholstery.

To complement the luxury, decorative aluminum inserts (polished or embossed), a combination of aluminum and ebony inserts (surcharge of 63,900 r), as well as everyone's favorite carbon inserts (surcharge of 102,200 r) have been added around the perimeter of the BMW X6 interior. Not to say that such additions for the BMW X6 are cheap, but their presence gives a special status to the crossover. The standard includes LED interior lighting, as well as LED edging around the perimeter of the cabin.

Finally, consider the driver's seat of the new BMW X6. Those who previously sat in the new X5 and X7 will not feel much difference, only a button for opening and closing the trunk lid is added on the door panel, otherwise this is a complete copy. As already mentioned, the instrument panel is digital, behind the tidy is a color projection display. The designers did not modify the steering wheel at all, they did not even flatten the lower part.

With the help of an electric drive, the steering wheel can be adjusted in height and depth. The upholstery is usually black leather. The steering wheel itself has three spokes, two of which are reserved for function buttons. For the convenience of the driver and the true feeling of the BMW X6 sport mode, the gearshift paddles are located at the wheel. Well, many have a two-faced opinion about the salon. On the one hand, this is a modern interior that allows you to use modern technologies, on the other hand, the designers copied it, thereby making it the same for both sedans and crossovers.

Technical characteristics of the BMW X6 2020

The variety of technical characteristics of the new BMW X6 G06 will suit every customer's taste. The manufacturer decided to present two gasoline and two diesel engines in Russia. The Steptronic proprietary sports automatic transmission works in tandem.

The basis for the third generation of the BMW X6 G06 crossover was the upgraded CLAR platform, which provides for a fully independent suspension or standard on adaptive shock absorbers. A double-wishbone architecture is installed at the front, a multi-link suspension at the rear.

If you want more for the new BMW X6, then for a separate surcharge, they propose to install an adaptive suspension (on the front and rear axles, since in the second generation the pneuma was only on the rear axle).A steering mechanism will also be installed on the rear axle, as well as active rear anti-roll bars.

The basis for the BMW X6 2020 crossover was 19 ″ alloy wheels in the standard or 20 ″, 21 ″ or 22 ″ in more expensive trim levels. Crossover tires, as a rule, are low-profile, they offer 265/50 in the base. Despite the external improvements, they decided to leave the brake system the same; as standard, ventilated disc brakes are installed in the front, and conventional disc brakes at the rear. For a separate surcharge or in the top trim levels of the BMW X6, ventilated disc brakes can also be installed at the rear.

Price and configuration BMW X6 G06 2019-2020

Initially, the start of sales of the new third-generation BMW X6 was scheduled for November 2019, in Russia the novelty was supposed to appear in early 2020, but the company changed its strategy. Today, the crossover is officially available in dealerships in the Russian Federation, the characteristics, configurations, prices and cost of additional accessories are named.

In addition to the basic set, the manufacturer offers to install the so-called additional packages: x-Line, M Sport and Individual. Among themselves, the configurations of the BMW X6 G06 may differ in characteristics, safety and comfort systems, as well as design. Outwardly, the BMW X6 crossover has changed for the better, has become massive, formidable, but the minus is that inside it is copied from the brand's passenger models, respectively, all external rudeness is quickly lost.
