According to Volvo representatives, the XC60 crossover is expected at the Geneva auto show. Consider the characteristics, description and photos of the novelty.

There are only a few days left before the Geneva auto show; facts about new cars are increasingly beginning to surface on the Internet. An example of this was the Volvo XC60 crossover, its second generation will be presented in Geneva. The other day, the manufacturer opened the first photos of the novelty, showing its front and rear LED optics, as well as a hidden part of the body shape.

The official presentation will take place on March 7, although some official sources Volvo has laid out the basic information about the new model. The new headlights are based on LEDs with integrated daytime running lights. Volvo engineers refer to them as "Thor's hammer", the rear optics also turned out to be LED, curved shape.

Despite the fact that many shapes resemble the already known XC90, S90 and V90 models, the new XC60 crossover has its own distinctive body features. The white stripes of the daytime running lights extend beyond the optics and abut against the radiator grille. As for the rear optics, it does not look as massive as other crossovers and sedans.

The new generation of the Volvo XC60 crossover is based on the shortened Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. The engine on such a platform is located transversely, initially the drive will be front-wheel drive, but an AWD system can be optionally delivered. Under the bonnet of the new Volvo XC60 are the Drive-E turbo petrol and diesel engines. The engines will be paired with an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. As Volvo is at the forefront of modern technology, the T6 Twin Engine hybrid system is expected. Most likely it will be taken from the Volvo S90L sedan intended for China. The combined power of the new XC60 crossover with a two-liter turbocharged petrol and electric engines is 306 hp and maximum torque of 550 Nm.

The rest of the characteristics of the new XC60 crossover have not yet been disclosed by Volvo representatives, leaving many fans and potential buyers intrigued. The next after the Volvo XC60 will be shown the new compact crossover Volvo XC40. It will be based on a compact CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform. In all likelihood, this crossover will be placed one step below the new XC60, and its competitors will be the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
