Budget Chevrolet cars are back on the Russian market. Renamed Ravon line, car characteristics, price.

As it became known, budget Chevrolet models returned to the Russian automotive market, but this time they are renamed models of the Uzbek company Ravon. Despite assembly and production, GM has a lot to do with them. The fact that the well-known Ravon cars are going to be brought to Russia, but under the Chevrolet brand, was known back in February 2020. Now this has been confirmed by actions, so Chevrolet Spart, Nexia and Cobalt, previously known as Ravon R2, R3 and R4, appeared in the Russian Federation.

Long before the development of a plan to import Ravon under the name Chevrolet to Russia, GM sold its shares in UzAuto and has nothing to do with the production of Ravon cars to this day. However, GM had to get some encouragement to release these models under the Chevy logo. For Russia, Keles Rus LLC became the distributor of UzAuto, which also has a Kazakh origin and was registered in March 2020.

For today the prices of new Chevrolet for Russia are already known. So the Chevrolet Spart will cost from 719,900 rubles, the new Nexia or the well-known Aveo starts from 699,900 rubles, and the Chevrolet Cobalt will cost from 749,900 rubles. This dealer network is completely new and is growing from scratch. Most likely, it can include both former Ravon employees and the current GM network in particular Chevrolet. It is possible that this approach will confuse buyers, because Chevrolet cars are different for the market of Uzbekistan and North America. On the other hand, they have a corporate design and a common logo.

As of June 17, 2020, the website of the Ravon company in Russia is still alive, so you can order a car. The site also states that there are two Chevrolet dealerships with Ravon roots in Russia - in Vologda and Orenburg. Nevertheless, as stated in the press release, in the near future we should expect the emergence of new dealerships in Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Krasnodar.

It is worth recalling that Chevrolet Niva is still being sold in Russia, but already produced at the plant not by GM-AvtoVAZ, but at the renamed Lada Zapad Togliatti. On the other hand, they did not remove the Chevrolet emblem from the budget SUV, in the same way as they did not remove the Chevrolet Niva's own website. Most likely, after restyling, the model will be transferred to the Lada website, and the icon will simply be replaced with a new one. Restyling of the Chevrolet Niva should take place before the end of this year.

Having considered the entire chain, you can see that there are three completely independent companies in Russia that sell Chevrolet cars. It remains only to look and wait at how things will go with the sale of Uzbek Chevrolet cars. Judging from everything, if there is a demand for cars, then there will be supplies and, accordingly, the expansion of the dealer network. It is possible that over time, a compact Tracker SUV of the previous generation may appear, which will be assembled at UzAuto.
