In November 2016, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Italian brand Alfa Romeo officially unveiled the first serial crossover in the company's history, named Stelvio. Its forerunner was the Kamal concept car, shown back in 2003, after which the production version of the SUV was constantly postponed.

Note that along with the usual Stelvio, the automaker showed the most "powerful" version of the SUV - Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which received a number of visual differences, as well as a more powerful engine capable of satisfying the needs of the most sophisticated drivers.

Exterior Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio 2018

What the Italians do not lack is the ability to create really attractive, spectacular and memorable cars, and the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a vivid confirmation of this. And if the usual Stelvio looks stylish and sophisticated, then in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio version the emphasis is on dynamics, sport and maximum aggression.

It turned out especially cool frontal part of the body, which almost exactly repeats the solutions of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan: expressive LED optics, a branded "beak" of a false radiator grille and a massive front bumper with impressive air intakes.

Moreover, you can recognize the charged version by the presence of additional air intakes on the embossed hood.

Crossover profile pleases the eye with larger wheel arches, spectacular splashes on the sidewalls, branded “Quadrifoglio” nameplates, a sloping roofline and impressively sized rims.

Powerful feed Stelvio Quadrifoglio crowned with aggressive side lights, a spoiler, and a rear bumper with four "trunks" of the exhaust system (in the normal version there are only two).

The novelty boasts the following dimensions:

Length, mm4686
Width, mm1903
Height, mm1650
Wheelbase, mm2820
Front / rear wheel track, mm1612 / 1649

At the discretion of buyers, a wide palette of body colors is offered, as well as an equally impressive set of wheel rim designs. By the way, the standard version of Quadrifoglio is equipped with R21 forged wheels, shod with low-profile tires.

Interior Stelvio Quadrifoglio 2018

The salon of the first crossover in the history of the company meets with a laconic, stylishly designed and, most importantly, an ergonomic front panel. The driver's cockpit is represented by a convenient cross-section multifunction steering wheel and a highly informative instrument cluster with a pair of analog indicators and a color monitor of the on-board computer.

The central part of the front panel is reserved for the 8.8 ”monitor of the multimedia and entertainment center, under which the manufacturer has located a section of large air duct deflectors, and even lower - a laconic adjustment unit for the interior climate.

Special attention should be paid to the round air duct deflectors, reminiscent of fighter turbines, located along the edges of the central panel. The assembly does not give rise to any complaints, and the materials are fully consistent with a premium car (natural and artificial leather, high-strength fabric, natural wood and carbon fiber).

The car interior has a five-seat layout. The front sports seats are beautifully tailored and boast impressive lateral bolsters, heated seats and ample adjustments (electrically adjustable).

Between the seats of the first row there is a high transmission tunnel, on which the manufacturer placed the gearbox selector, as well as three washers responsible for controlling the multimedia complex, the Alfa Chassis Domain Control system and tuning the suspension (has 4 operating modes).

Rear sofa also did not disappoint and boasts a well-cut profile and the ability to comfortably accommodate three passengers, who are offered a separate air duct unit and adjustable backrests.

Trunk volume is quite impressive and amounts to 680 liters, and by lowering the back of the rear sofa, the user can more than double it. In the underground luggage compartment there is a spare wheel and a set of necessary tools.

Specifications Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio 2018

Under the hood of an ordinary Stelvio, the manufacturer installs a 2-liter turbo-gasoline engine with a capacity of 280 hp, while the Quadrifoglio version received a 2.9-liter "six" with a pair of turbochargers, a 32-valve timing and adjustable valve timing, which allows generating impressive 510 "stallions" and a maximum torque of 600 Nm (available in the range of 2500-5500 rpm.).

With such a power plant, the owner of a charged Stelvio can count on acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 3.8 seconds, as well as the maximum speed, limited by an electronic "collar", at around 285 km / h.

Fuel consumption in the combined cycle does not exceed 9 l / 100 km, which is one of the best results for vehicles of similar weight and dynamic characteristics.

Engine volume, liters2,9
Power, h.p.510
Maximum torque, Nm600
Acceleration from 0 to 100, sec3,8
Maximum speed, km / h285

A couple of the power plant is a modern automatic transmission with 8 speeds, and you can change gears not only with a selector located on the central tunnel, but also with paddle shifters.

Note that in September 2017, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio became the fastest SUV on the Nürburgring North loop, completing a lap in 7 minutes. and 51.7 seconds, which is more than 7 seconds. faster than the previous leader - Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

Already in the standard version, the car is equipped with the proprietary all-wheel drive technology Q4 and the Torque Vectoring system. Compared to the regular Stelvio, the charged version has a stiffer suspension, an active differential with a pair of multi-plate clutches and high-performance brakes (optional carbon-ceramic).

The suspension has a fully independent architecture and features double wishbones at the front and a multi-link at the rear. The braking system comes standard with Brembo carbon-ceramic discs.

It is also worth noting that thanks to the Alfa DNA system, the user can choose one of four chassis operating modes: Dynamic, Natural, Advanced Efficiency and Race.
