Sometimes image matters more than sales

The Golf and Scirocco were the first cars to have a rear torsion beam in the 1970s, but they are now equipped with a more sophisticated multi-link suspension. The active optional DCC suspension provides the ability to change the modes of operation of the shock absorbers, namely, transfer it from a comfortable mode to a sporty one.

For a very long time, the Volkswagen brand could have gained the glory of cars intended for pensioners who need to drive to a chess club on the weekend or, for example, to play lotto. But it would be relevant if it were not for such Volkswagen models as Scirocco, Beetle, Passat CC and Golf GTI, which create the dispassionate image of the so-called “people's” cars as emotional as possible and keep this brand attractive to a young audience.

Unification helps to make money

Thanks to the correct growth policy, as well as the end-to-end unification, the automaker Volkswagen Group has the opportunity to earn more competitors from the car models of the same class. Scirocco, despite the fact that it lacks 4 doors and an elongated base, is also mainly bought by the Chinese, and only after them are Germans and British citizens. For buyers from eastern countries, the red shade of Flash has been specially added to the color gamut, which, according to local concepts, attracts not only attention, but also good luck to a person's life, as well as golden Pyramid and violet Ultra, which are also very popular in the East.

The sporty look of the car does not mean "sport"

Today, starting with the 150-horsepower Volkswagen Scirocco, the car can be equipped with an electronic imitation of the differential locking system for the front axle XDS. To change the old steering rack and pinion mechanism from the 5th "Golf" only for one car model is expensive financially and simply was not included in the main priorities of the manufacturer.

In general, German developers admit that Scirocco is not really a "sport". The lion's share of the sales of this model falls on those versions that are equipped with the least powerful motors. After all, the main thing is that the car has a pseudo-two-door body, on which there is an opportunity to stick a Nurburgring sticker, and thus drive a Golf car, so to speak, "not like everyone else."
