It should be noted right away that the leaders of our comparison are clearly outstripping at the first stage, both in terms of size and design. So, for example, the new Skoda Rapid is the longest, almost 4.5 meters with a wheelbase of 2.6 meters. These are really good results for the B-class, the same focus is considered for the higher class. Anyway. Here we have a corporate style that can be seen in every detail, starting with the general angularity and sharpness of the lines, and ending with the discs.

The new generations of the company are also difficult to distinguish between themselves, but they all differ in stunning solidity and style. By the way, the Czechs have a lot to learn. Not only did they make a hatch in the shape of a sedan, but they also put a diesel in it. It costs a lot, but more about the characteristics later. Rapid stands on a relatively new modular platform, like the same Tiguan, for example. Therefore, it is easy to guess that the comfort here is much higher than that of competitors.

Of course, it is worth understanding that if the Focus audience is people under 35, then everything is completely different here. I must admit that for a daily shopping trip, excellent roominess.

The interior of the Kia Rio is made in the same style as before, it just differs in colors and some elements. On the other hand, this is a classic instrument panel that does not cause negative emotions, the general concept of the panel is the same as the steering wheel, the second row also folds, but not into a flat floor. The second engine is 123-horsepower, the same one that is installed on the Solaris. It burns between 5 and 8.5 liters in any vehicle, with a top speed of 180 km / h. For 1.4, only mechanics is available, for 1.6 both mechanics and an automatic machine are installed, each 6 switching steps.

Lada Xray boasts really high-tech power units, this is the only hatchback in the lineup up to 1 million, which can be purchased with a 1.8-liter engine. As a base, a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 106 horsepower is offered. The consumption of such an engine will be from 5 to 9 liters, depending on the mode of use. The maximum speed will be 176 km / h. This engine is only offered with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The second engine is a brand new 1.8. Its development was completed at the end of a year. The vestigials were the first to receive a novelty, while there is talk of installing it on Datsun. He will need about 6 liters on the highway and 9.5 liters in the city. It is also worth noting that on mechanics the maximum speed will be 179 km / h, and on the robot - 186 km / h.

Well, Skoda Rapid. There are engines from Volkswagen and Audi. The base engine develops 90 horsepower, consumes 4.5 liters on the highway and develops a speed of up to 185 km / h. In the city, the consumption will be a maximum of 7.8 liters, according to the manufacturer. This motor is installed in the base of any configuration and is aggregated only by a five-speed mechanics.

Next comes the same engine, but boosted to 110 horsepower. He is able to accelerate Rapid to 195 km / h, but it will remain within the consumption of the smaller brother. In addition, not only mechanics are installed on it, but also an automatic transmission with 6 steps.

The third engine is a turbocharged 1.4 liter. It was borrowed from the Polo Sedan. With a small volume, it develops 125 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The maximum speed of such an instance will be 208 km / h, while fuel consumption varies between 4.3 - 7 liters. It is also worth noting that this engine is only available with DSG7.

Prices and configurations of hatchbacks up to 1 million

Now the most interesting thing, we will compare the equipment and its prices. Let's start with our Lada Xray. Top grade Jubilee will cost a maximum of 843 thousand rubles. For them, the buyer will receive 1.8 on the robot, two pillows, child locks, help when starting uphill, climate control, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, a leather multifunction steering wheel, standard navigation and many nice buns in the form of heated front seats, for example. It is worth remembering that this is 850,000 rubles, not a million.

Ford Focus for a million rubles can be purchased with a 125-horsepower engine, but that's all there is to it. There will be air conditioning, two pillows and an uphill start assist system. There will also be regular acoustics and heated front seats. If you choose the option with a 105-horsepower engine, then the list of equipment can additionally include climate control, rain and light sensors, as well as heated steering wheel covered with leather and windshield. That's all.

Kia offers a hatchback for 1 million rubles, which will be equipped with a keyless entry system, there will be a leather multifunction steering wheel and a gearshift lever, heated everything that is possible (the rear seats are not allowed), standard navigation and 16-inch molding. This is Kia Rio for 1 million rubles.

As for Wenga, it does not have keyless entry, in all other respects it is completely identical. You will have to pay an extra 70 thousand rubles for it, and this will already go beyond our budget.

If you curtail your appetites with the engine, for example, limit yourself to a 110-horsepower engine on the machine, then there will be about 80 thousand for additional equipment, which can include a keyless entry system, bi-xenon headlights with rain and light sensors, as well as rear parking sensors. Also not bad in general.

Conclusion on low-cost hatchbacks

Well, now the conclusion, which is solely the opinion of the author. If the car is taken for a long time (more than 5 years), then it makes sense, and it is large enough, to take the Xray. A machine based on Sandero, unpretentious and quite cheap to repair. If a car is required for a shorter time, up to five years, then you need to understand that Xray will greatly lose in price, like the Koreans, like Rapid. For these purposes, then Focus is more suitable. If you want to drive for a long time and not stumble over unpleasant little things, then it is better to stop at a Korean-made car. But again, it should be understood that the losses in the secondary market during the sale will be significant.
